Mike “Mitch” Mitchell began his career in entertainment as a professional dancer with the modern dance troupe, “Paula Ross Dance Company”. After a successful career in the dance world, an interest in the craft of stunt work led to study and training in Los Angeles. Intense commitment and training grew into opportunities on “Macgyver”, “21 Jumpstreet”, “Timecop” and “Legends of the Fall” as both a stunt performer and principal actor.
Mitch’s reputation and diligence opened the door to stunt double Robin Williams on the film “Jumanji”. This body of work began a twenty year, and eighteen-movie relationship with Mr. Williams. The unique time spent with Robin included highlights such as, performing stunts on many of his most beloved movies and stunt coordinating for Francis Ford Coppola and Christopher Columbus in the U.S. and Europe.
Mitch went on to stunt coordinate and 2nd Unit Direct for James Cameron on the “Dark Angel” series, moving into directing on “Battlestar Galactica” and JJ Abram’s “Fringe”. He stunt coordinated and designed action on the feature films, “Rise of the Apes” and ‘Elysium”. His feature film 2nd Unit Directing credits include “Hot Tub Time Machine” and “Elysium” for Neill Bloomkamp.
Mitch is currently writing and developing film projects with his partners at Big Surf Films.
